Six Items you MUST add to your Fall Wardrobe

Top 6 Fall Fashion Items

The seasons are changing and it is time to think about updating your wardrobe just a tad.

Each September, the Fall Fashions are premiered in all the major fashion magazines. I have combed through the pages of Vogue, Instyle, Elle, Marie Clare, Bazaar, Ebony and Essence to compile a list of the “MUST HAVES” for curvy girls this season! See the list of items that I have put together just for you below.

Policy and Fashion’s Six Items you need to have in your Fall Wardrobe.

1. The Sweater Dress:
There are so many styles of the sweater dress that you can wear to flatter your curves! The midi-body con can be dressed up for date night or can be more styled more casually when paired with a denim jacket.  I have also seen fit and flare styles of the sweater dress. It’s a great option to wear to the office, pair it with a great pair of tights and flats or heels and your outfit is complete! Let’s not forget the shape wear ladies if you choose to purchase a body-con style!

2. The Tie-Neck Blouse:

This is the perfect girly pic for me! These blouses give an effortless polished finish to any outfit. Pair it with a pencil skirt for the office or with a nice pair of jeans for casual Friday’s or a event that may call for you to be casual and chic.

3. The Cape Blazer:

I know that you may have seen this style on other sites, but there is a reason for that! It’s a MUST HAVE. As a plus-size woman I often have a hard time getting my arms into some blazers. I may have to go up a size,  as a result the rest of the blazer is too big! The Cape Blazer solves that problem. Your arms are covered and free at the same time! Its a way to look casual and fashion forward. These blazers are sold at many retailers at a variety of price points. Check out Missguided and Charlotte Russe for options!

4. Upgrade your Outerwear with Color!

As a native Michigander, I have always owned a variety of coats and jackets because the weather is so temperamental! It’s great to have options, but you may notice they are all the same color! Either black, gray or khaki. This year think about updating your outerwear this season and adding color! Try a red trench coat for the rainy days or a light color (I prefer blush or light pink) wool coat. Check out City Chic for some additional outerwear options.

5. The Pointy Toe Flat:

Anyone who has spoken to me about fashion, knows I SWARE by pointy-toe anything! I love pointy-toe flats because they can upgrade your outfit. Something casual can be dressed up just by adding this shoe! Perfect for the days you want to look profession, but may not want to wear heels to the office. I know curvy girls often may have a hard time with this style of shoe because they are a bit narrow. This year Forever 21 has answered our prayers, visit Forever 21 for the Pointy-Toe flat in Wide Width in a array of colors.

6. Fall in Love with Leather:

Leather items are classics every year. Make sure you have a leather jacket that can add that edgy look to any outfit. Also consider leather for the office. Midi-length leather skirts have hit the stores this season and they can work for you in the professional setting! Check out Just Fab and Charlotte Russe for options to buy. Pairing it with a black turtleneck(yes they are back in style as well) and a statement necklace can give you a clean, yet edgy look in the workplace! You can never go wrong with leather handbags, they are always perfect for the Fall season!

I hope these tips will help you as you assess your wardrobe and make decisions on what items you want to purchase this season!
